About this kitesurfing lessons
Paje, on Zanzibar's south-east coast, is one of the best-known places in Africa to learn kitesurfing. A reef far offshore keeps the lagoon shallow and flat, so beginners can stand up and reset their kite easily.
There are two wind seasons. The Kaskazi blows from the north-east from about mid-December to March, mostly at moderate strength. The Kusi blows from the south-east from about June to October and is usually stronger. Between them, around April to May and late October to early December, there can be days with little wind.

Children and groups
Minimum age and weight are set by the kite school. Ask us before booking for anyone under 16. Group rates are available for six or more travellers.

Send us your date, number of travellers and hotel. We confirm availability and the full price in USD before you pay. Changes and cancellations follow our booking terms. If weather or sea conditions make a trip unsafe, we reschedule or refund it.

When is the best time to learn?
The two wind seasons, roughly mid-December to March and June to October. Avoid April and May if you want reliable wind.
Why does the tide matter?
At low tide parts of the lagoon empty out, and at high tide the beach narrows. Schools plan sessions around both.
Do I need to be fit?
Average fitness is enough. You must be comfortable in water.
