About this beginner scuba dive
Zanzibar's reefs are a good place for a first dive: warm water and plenty of reef life close to the surface. With a certified dive centre, you learn the basics in a briefing, practise in shallow water, then dive on a reef with an instructor beside you.
No certificate is needed, but everyone completes a medical questionnaire first. Some health conditions need a doctor's sign-off before you can dive.

Children and groups
Minimum age is set by the dive centre and the training agency. Ask us before booking for anyone under 12. Group rates are available for six or more travellers.
Booking and cancellation
Send us your date, number of travellers and hotel. We confirm availability and the full price in USD before you pay. Changes and cancellations follow our booking terms. If weather or sea conditions make a trip unsafe, we reschedule or refund it.
Beginner scuba dive FAQs
Can I fly after diving?
Leave at least 12 to 18 hours between diving and flying. Don't book this the day before your flight home or a fly-in Mikumi safari.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
You need to be comfortable in water. The instructor stays with you.
Who can't dive?
Some medical conditions rule out diving or need a doctor's approval. You complete a questionnaire before the day.
